The launch of Google plus ratchets up the competition between Google plus and Facebook. Facebook which is well known for its Social Networking service faces challenge from Search engine giant – Google. By mean of this info-Graph I compared Google+ with Facebook side-by-side.
I Hope you’ll like to share this with friends
[Sorry for the horrible English I used here..]
You can have this on your site too..

Never mind, Unless you won’t give credit back
Hey Amit, I have yet again updated the graphic to make it accurate you might want to use it. Take a look
FYI, you need to download a plugin to use videochat on Facebook. .jar on macs and .exe on windows.. doesn’t work on linux systems at all!
Hey,
thanks for notifying me, Just updated new image
Facebook videocalling doesn’t work on Chrome OS either.
Amit,
Nice infographic. I reposted it on my blog, giving you credit of course!
One thing I had to do though, was edit the infographic in photoshop because of the spelling and grammar mistakes.
I did the best I could but it is difficult through copying and pasting.
If you still have the PSD version and are willing to send it to me, I’ll correct the grammar and punctuation and send it back for you to use too.
Send me an email and let me know what you think. It will help us both out!
‘FacBook’? ‘Somthing’? ‘upto 10 different peoples’? ‘fulfill of tiny animations’?
Does your spell checker not work? Do you speak English?! I would Thumbs-Down this article if I could, solely because of glaring spelling errors, and a sneaking suspicion that the creator of the Infographic doesn’t know how to write in English.
Greg (AKA Spelling Police)- so what, maybe English is his second language, maybe it is not, that does not make his information invalid. You do realize that not everyone speaks English (…really I should say American rather than English – if you have traveled anywhere you know why)to begin with. Sneaking suspicion, when did it become bad to not be proficient in American. So Greg where is your prefect article written in you non-native tong, I’ll be you don’t have one.
Mike
Thanks bernie
hey really nice information.
Looks like Google+ win the battle.
may be!
The circles, hangout and huddles make Google+ different from Facebook, This is gonna strike Facebook…. I think !
google+ wille won the battle……………………
in facebook you can limit who sees your posts beyond just “friend, friends of friends, and everyone”, you can “customise” it to not show certain people or complete friends lists you create.
if you create a friends list of “not safe for family” then you can customise your post to not show them and anyone else. it works very similar to google+ circle method, but google+ has a much more user friendly and straight forward approach
Yes we can further customize the sharing option but not as like we can do to google+
No list specific update option is available in facebook.See this image – http://technobombs1.appspot.com/images/facebook.png
*UPDATE – We can show updates to specific peoples.
Lock icon > customize > Make this visible to “specific peoples” > enter list name
The customized friend list to post updates DOES NOT WORK! i learned the hard way! i did that, i even blocked my family so they can’t see a kind of controversial post that i wrote to just my friends to see… i did all that you have to do to share something just with specific people blocked everybody else on the post options and in the privacy options and NOTHING! in minute everyone in my family were commenting about it… :S
Google +1… I’ve tried and it works so much better…
Sorry but there’s a huge mistake: You CAN post to different lists, but it’s damn complicated. Nice Infographic, but the facts should be right…
How we can show update to friends from specific lists ?
See this image – http://technobombs1.appspot.com/images/facebook.png
*UPDATE – We can show updates to specific peoples.
Lock icon > customize > Make this visible to “specific peoples” > enter list name
Digit! The privacy concerns section is inaccurate though. You can specify people or groups to share with, or hide from. on FB. It’s just a little clunkier than G+ circles.
What else is missing? EVENTS! The ability to set up social events among friends. Perhaps my friends are the only one that uses this Facebook feature but it is very much missing from Google+ for me and preventing my conversion.
@ dave
yeah.. , Its missing in Google+, but wait – there is a Google service called “Google calender” which can be used as an event manager too, though its not integrated in Google+, we still be able to share events with our Google contacts and so with Google+ friends
That would be great If we get event reminders in Google+ sidebar – just like Facebook
What is ‘Facebook’?
@john
You must be kidding!
Check out – http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Facebook
Yes you are right, Facebook has more customization options than that of the Google+, but its too complicated to use.
yes that would be great if someone could help me out to make it perfect !
Info-graphic is updated !
You are able to share a post with just one person on G+. Click “add more people” and type a persons name. Becomes a direct message.
Oh yes,
thanks for pointing out.
Another difference, FB let’s you share with people of Groups A AND exclude C.
Whereas G+ let’s you share with Circles but not specify exclusions. Therefore if someone was a member of A & C, they would see the share.
Actually that graphic still is not really right.
It is true that there is no chatting app for Facebook by Facebook. But the official full Apps for Android and iPhone DO support chatting completely. And since chatting in FB is equal to personal messages also group chat is no problem anymore. (just checked on my iPad and my Android phone).
Also there IS an option to share certain things only with certain people or groups or exclude them. Therefor you go to Account->Privacy Settings->Customise setting->whatever you want to configure->customise->specific people… and there you can make it visible only to certain people or lists and also exclude certain people or lists. So you can for example set your relationship status to be visible to “co-students and personal friends, my mom” and explicitly hide it from “Colleagues, Mathew Brown, Chemistry class”.
oh and btw. the same goes with each and every post you do from the web site. There you get to that option by simply clicking the lock shown next to the “share”-button.
I appreciate your work for this infographic, but one thing is bit confusing that – Facebook app for Android and iPhone does support chat.
You can do chat from your android or iphone using any third-party chat applications, Unlike Google+ facebook don’t have any official Chat cliant for android or iPhone,.
You must be using an outdated client. The current official Facebook app for Android (1.6) has a chat icon, separate from regular messages. I believe it was put in a few versions prior. I’ve been using it for a few months now
Is it support group chat ?
I think few days ago Facebook launched group chatting service !
I think that Google should win between them, because face book is new and has know experience that Google has
The official facebook for BlackBerry has facebook chat built in as well.
maybe add to the advantage of google+ that you also have gmail, google docs, google calendar, and other google products that comes with your google+ plus account…i think this is one advantage that facebook doesnt have…
thats only an advantage if u use any of that crap
Hi Amit,
This is a really awesome infographic! it make me easier to know the difference of facebook and google+.
I’ve share your infographic at my blog : http://www.spyontech.com/news/google-vs-facebook-who-is-the-winner-infographic.htm
waiting for your next great infographic
Thanks!
Hey Amit,
thanks for this awesome info grafic. Interesting that you already like some google features much better than the respective fb feature.
Awesome how Google has really created something of value that might be a “threat” to FB and Twitter…
Greetings from Germany
Hendrik
Please oh please no games on G+. Leave that trash on Facebook. Farmville is the harbinger of doom and spam.
I know Google already has code in place for games to be included in G+
http://nightmaremode.net/2011/07/google-code-hints-at-games-6765/
but I know that many many people including myself are trying to get away from the stupid spam and incessant “invites”
i agree leave the games off G+ that way facebook will still be more entertaining then google+. witout the games i would spend all of about 10 mins on facebook
G++; Excellent InfoGraphic!!
I’d like to translate your inphographic to spanish to post it in my blog. Could you give me the source file? You will have credits back
Me too!, Could you translate it? Please..
Thanks
The only failure from Google+, in my eyes, that’s not support third party apps.. maybe not yet
Well, for me Google+ is win in many things, and about Pages, Google+ Product Manager Christian Oestlien says that the Google+ team is working on creating a unique experience for businesses that includes deep analytics and the ability to connect to products like AdWords. “How users communicate with each other is different from how they communicate with brands,” Oestlien argues. Quoted from Mashable.
And I also reshare your infographic to my blog.
Btw, is there any photo tagging option in facebook? because, in Google+ we can set easily who can automatically tag us into photos / whic circles can automatically tag us a photo in google+ setting section, and that’s very useful and also nice. Goodbye unwanted tag, especially annoying advertisment tag in facebook!
Thank you for create this, very informative.
Google+ doesn’t have events either. It’s a nice feature on Facebook if your planning a party or outing.
Maybe Zuckerberg was right. Facebook will be the new MySpace…
This is a very clear illustration that Facebook is spearheading the way for the advanced innovation online. SEO should be aware of this updates.. Interesting..
This is very impresiv… thnx – good job:)
Great IG! With Facebook already part of the world’s lexicon it’ll be interesting to see where it this platform takes the world in the next 5-10 years.
damn man!……, GOOGLE + rocks……, and also if you open ur gmail, u can easily share and update comments, thghts then there itself., which is an ultimate feature by GOOGLE+.. can also chat similatenously with Gmail Friends on Google+ who are not on Google+
There are even some websites made only to make fun of the competition between Facebook and Google+
I like this one below
http://facebook-vs-google.net
Hey,
thats too much
I didn’t yet hear about the importance of Facebook pages and I am sure eager to try Google’s business profiles.
Thanks!
that was such a great presentation! i understand clearly which one has the best features for social media….my vote still goes with Facebook
Google+ vs Facebook!
Both of the organizations are leader in their fields.. Facebook can never provide the facilities, which google provides… Google is big, and has better network than Facebook.
But Facebook is a lifestyle.. Most of the facebook users use to check their accounts just after they wake up.. They share, they comment, they chat.. they do everything what they cant do in real life..
Google attempted to capture the social network market before.. but they failed. Orkut has better security (you can send scrap to selected users, you can share your pics with selected users) than Facebook.. bt orkut failed. Google buzz, google wave.. all failed (i did not use both of these, even i dont know their URLs). Facebook users didnt move to orkut, or other networking sites.. Why??
Just one answer, why they should?? they are engaged with a number of groups, connected with a number of friends in facebook.. its really difficult to move all the friends and groups (even pages) to another social networking site..
Google+ is new, cool and has new features, and definitely rocking!! Bt it’s difficult to defeat facebook.
Why did people move from orkut or hi5 or myspace to facebook because it had some thing more to offer and it was cool. same is the case with G+ it’s just pure simple.
myspace died orkut died every social media site has died except facebook that goes to show facebook is doin something rite will google+ last probably but will never dominate facebook its just way to far behind facebook to catch up.
I cannot upload pics on my G+ from my mobile (an iPhone, used by some 40M pp daily to go on Facebook). I can definitely do it with Facebook. btw, facebook has recently released a web based app that will work for all phones. G+ only has an app for Android, so far.
plus facebook profiles can be private. Google plus profiles will ALL be public starting July31st.
Get more (updated) info on G+ vx FB on my blog socialnetconomy.
I used your graph at my blog with mentioning Source of your website link . I hope you will not mind it. Thanks for sharing information.
I’m not impressed by G+
Being a Blackberry user, the android stuff and the iOS both are irrelevant for me.
Your graphic is tilted against FB though, as I can very well upload pics and vids directly from my mobile to facebook, and do that with pics all the time, as well as giving thumbs up and having a sharing experience which is faster than that of G+, as I have a native app for facebook and just a mobile website for G+ (no app existing or announced).
For an android phone user your graphic might be true, for a blackberry user it definitely isn’t.
Google+ also doesn’t have the capability yet (that I have found) to create group events and invitations like Facebook does.
Cool graphic, and great points covered. Just spotted one typo: Chroem should be Chrome under Hangout->supported browsers.
thanks for pointing out the mistake.
I’ll update it !
Google is obviously concerned by the dominance of Facebook and the fact people now spend more time on FB than doing anything else online. Brands are following and brands are wanting to spend money on FB, which is a threat to Google.
Someone has said your post is tilted against FB but more importantly i think is the post explaining that FB is a lifestyle. Soon one billion people will use FB, 10,000s of businesses already have a presence there. The vast majority of Google+ users are developers. There is a huge question if many people will leave their exisiting social networks and join something like Google+.
Currently Google+ does not cater for brands and it is closed to developers. FB is open for developers 1000s of agencies are working constantly to add more features and functionality. Google does not have this so can not win the features war. If Google comes up with a ‘cool’ new feature for Google+ it will overnight be replicated by FB developers.
The person who posted saying I hope Google+ doesn’t get games misses the point if people want games or anything else FB, the brands and the agencies will provide it.
And just a last item to through into the equation is that Microsoft owns Skype and a share in FB so the world’s favourite productivity apps will soon be added too. No wonder Google is scrabbling to play catch-up!
there is a very good book “the google story” read it unlike facebook google is made on pure Customer Satisfaction. they dont step on someones shoulder to climb up they make the stairs so that every one can come up with them that includes facebook if it wants it can rise up with google. They dont really care as long as facebook(feeling threatened) provides the users with what is needed(like circles & ease of use)they have shut down many similar projects they will shut this down too if people dont want it ( but we all know what happened to HOTMAIL? none gave GBs of space before google started it). And, Quality is better than Quantity when you are talking about developers. Lastly, there is a difference b/w visionaries and copycats.
If Google was an attractive woman, then I would sleep with that woman.
Good presentation!
Congrats!
Google is the first.
I would like to work for Google
o yes it is so difficult to click the button beside post click custom and type in who u dont want to see ur posts.
Hello,
My name is Alexis and I am a staff reporter for my school Newspaper at Auburn Mountainview High School in Auburn, Washington. I was wondering if I would use your image comparing Google+ and Facebook and use it in my story. My teacher and my editor like the idea and I ask that you get back to me at the email address I provided. It would be much appreciated. Nice work by the way!
Thanks again for your time!
Good idea, but a bit difficult to read through. Wouldn’t call it an infographic–I’d call it info.
Guys, use imgur.com for hosting because imageshack SUCKS. Your image is down.
